About

Passion. Excellence. Diligence.

About Us

  • Passion. Our passion is collaboration. We thrive at working in a team setting to effectively and efficiently create solutions for our clients. We collaborate smoothly with renowned individual experts, or with our client’s in-house resources or consultants.

  • Excellence. Our goal is excellence. We understand the importance of tailoring our scope and assigning the appropriate resources based on each project’s specific needs and producing the highest quality work products on time.

  • Diligence. We work with the utmost diligence. We are doggedly determined to achieve the best practicable outcome and will work tirelessly to fulfill expectations.

We apply these precepts in two primary areas of practice: environmental litigation and arbitration expert services, and project environmental due diligence. We are happy to work as an independent expert on a consultation basis, as part of a client team, or help our clients assemble a project-specific team.

Pieter Booth

Net Gain Ecological Services was founded by Pieter Booth whose rich and varied career in environmental consulting began upon receiving his Master’s Degree in 1984. Pieter’s first job was as an independent consultant co-authoring a regional regulatory agency’s first annual report. In the intervening years, he worked at several consulting firms, and this work gave him a broad range of experience assessing ecological risks from contaminants, evaluating project environmental risks, and supporting environmental damages dispute resolution and litigation. Pieter is now returning to his independent consulting roots. As with most environmental fields, each of these endeavors truly requires a multidisciplinary approach, and throughout his career, Pieter has assembled and managed teams of specialists to resolve his client’s biggest ecological challenges. This spirit of collaboration is one of our founding principles. In addition to his academic and professional background, Pieter was fortunate enough to have been raised in South America. This upbringing combined with many years of experience working in Central and South America not only imbued him with bilingual skills (Spanish/English), but also a close affinity with and deep understanding of culture across the Americas. Pieter is an avid nature enthusiast and spends his free time scuba diving, hiking, and honing his photography skills.
